Bom Dia!!!

Ainda estamos em Presidente Figueiredo, mas vamos partir daqui a pouco para Manaus. Os dias que passamos aqui foram ótimos!

Após a orientação que tivemos na quinta-feira, almoçamos no centro da cidade e em seguida partimos para a Caverna do Maruaga. Descemos com muita emoção e muita lama a trilha que leva até a caverna. Demos a volta ao redor da caverna em um córrego de água de mais ou menos 20 centímetros cobrindo nossos pés: os meninos adoraram! No final da tarde nos esbaldamos nas corredeiras do Urubuí! Voltamos para nosso hotel, jantamos e assistimos os DVDs das viagens do Nordeste Novembro/Dezembro 2011 e Janeiro 2012: os intercambistas que participaram dessas viagens adoraram e ficaram muito emocionados!

Ontem cedo partimos para uma pequena cidade vizinha a Presidente Figueiredo: Balbina, uma cidade planejada para morarem as pessoas que trabalharam na década de 70 e 80 na construção da Usina Hidrelétrica de lá, que hoje infelizmente só abastece um terço de Manaus. Lá, visitamos o centro de pesquisas de Quelônios e Mamíferos, onde observamos varias tartarugas e o peixe-boi da Amazônia. Tem peixe-boi lá que chega a pesar 350 kg!! Almoçamos na vila e partimos para a Cachoeira do Santuário, chamada assim porque os índios que habitavam a região usavam o local para fazer seus rituais e preces! Com uma força enorme a água com tom amarelado, o local é realmente um paraíso ecológico! De volta ao nosso hotel, jantamos e curtimos a noite jogando sinuca e totó e nadando afinal, está muito quente aqui!

Nesse exato momento todos estão tomando café da manhã e em seguida vamos para Manaus, onde nossa aventura continua!

Good Morning!

We are still in Presidente Figueredo, but we are leaving in a few minutes for Manaus. The days we spent here were great!!

After the orientation that we had on Thursday morning, we had lunch and then headed for Maruaga Cave. With much excitement and a lot of mud, we went down the trail that leads to the cave. We went back around the cave in a stream of water of about 20 cm covering our feet! In the afternoon we swam a lot at Urubuí Waterfall! We returned to our hotel, had dinner and watched the DVDs of the Northeast November/December 2011 and January 2012 trips: the exchange students who participated of these trips were very touched and just loved it!
Yesterday morning we left for a small town near Presidente Figueiredo, Balbina, a planned city for construction workers in the 1970’s and 1980’s who were building the hydroelectric power plant, which unfortunately supplies with all of its energy only 1/3 of Manaus needs. There we also visited the Freshwater Mammals and Turtle Research Center, where we observed turtles and freshwater manatees from the Amazon. There are manatees 350kg weigh!!  We had lunch in the village and headed to Santuário Waterfall, which is called that because Indians who inhabited the region used the site to make their rituals and ceremonies! With an enormous strength with yellowish water, the place is really an ecological paradise. At night we had dinner at the hotel and enjoyed our free time to play billiards, chat and swim at the pool after all, it is REALLY hot in here!!

Right now everyone is having breakfast and then we are going to Manaus, where our adventure continues!

Presidente Figueiredo, AM!

Boa Tarde a todos os seguidores do Blog!!

Escrevo diretamente de Presidente Figueiredo cidade que, com um território do tamanho da Holanda, possui mais de 100 cachoeiras dentro da selva amazônica, por isso é conhecido como Terra das Cachoeiras!! Chegamos aqui hoje quase 3 da manhã e fomos direto descansar!!

Hoje pela manhã tivemos nossa Orientação Geral da viagem, quando apresentamos a coordenação (incluindo nossos guias daqui, que vão ficar com o grupo a maior parte do tempo até o final da viagem), passamos dicas de saúde, de como aproveitar melhor o tempo, o dinheiro, cuidados que todos devem ter entre outras coisas que facilitam muito a vida não só dos intercambistas mas também da coordenação.

Nesse exato momento, todos estão fazendo os primeiros passeios por aqui e já adianto: todos estão MUITO ANIMADOS!!

Assim que tiver nova oportunidade, escrevo para vocês contando as novidades.

Good Afternoon Blog followers!  

I am writing now from Presidente Figueiredo, which has an area that is the size of Holland and has over 100 waterfalls in the Amazon jungle, that’s why this town is known as the Land of the Waterfalls! We arrived here nearly 3:00Am and went straight to bed, because everyone was really tired.

This morning, after breakfast, we had our general orientation of the trip, when we introduce the coordination team (including our local guides who will stay with the group most of the time until the end of the trip). We also gave important tips like how to take care of their health and money, and how to enjoy the best that the trip has to offer!

Now, the students are making the first activities here and I gotta tell you: EVERYONE IS REALLY EXCITED!!!

Once I have another chance, I’ll write you telling the news.

A VIAGEM COMEÇOU!!! / THE TRIP BEGAN!!!

Olá!!!!!

Sejam todos bem vindos ao Blog da viagem da Amazônia (Grupo 1) 2012!

Escrevo agora do aeroporto de MANAUS, cheguei mais cedo para organizar tudo e já estou aqui aguardando o grupo de quase 50 intercambistas que vem acompanhado pela Monitora Nina Mendes e o casal de Chaperones José Eduardo e Dalmara Vendeiro, do distrito 4610! Eles sairão de São Paulo 20h45min! Assim que eles chegarem vamos para Presidente Figueiredo, cidade localizada a 107 km daqui e conhecida como a “Terra das Cachoeiras”, onde realmente começa nossa grande aventura!

Estamos muito animados e na expectativa de uma grande viagem!

Welcome everyone to the Amazon 2012 (group 1) trip Blog!

I write now from Manaus international airport. I arrived here earlier to organize everything, and I am now waiting for the group of nearly 50 exchange students to arrive. They are coming with Nina Mendes, the trip monitor and the trip Chaperone couple José Eduardo and Dalmara Vendeiro, from Rotary District 4610. They will leave São Paulo together at 8:45Pm. Once they arrive, we will go to Presidente Figueiredo, a town located 107 km from here and known as “The Land of Waterfalls”, where our great adventure really begins!

We are very excited and expecting a great trip!

Amazon 2012 (Trip 1) has started!

The wait is over! AMAZON 2012 (Trip 1) has started! Today, exchange students living all over Brazil (and some from Argentina as well) are traveling together to São Paulo (Guarulhos Airport), so from there they will take a blocked flight to Manaus! It will be really exciting, as soon as they arrive in Amazon, they will go directly to the small and beautiful city of Presidente Figueiredo!
